Why Disaster Management is Crucial in Delhi:
Delhi's Vulnerability: Delhi falls under Seismic Zone IV, making it susceptible to high-intensity earthquakes, posing a significant threat to life and property. Additionally, during monsoons, the water level of the Yamuna River can reach alarming heights. In 2023, the river reached 207.32 meters, causing severe flooding in East Delhi, displacing residents, damaging homes and livelihoods, and disrupting daily life.
Raise India Foundation has a proven track record of disaster management and relief efforts. Our team of dedicated volunteers and professionals brings years of experience to the table, ensuring a swift and effective response. With the Yamuna River posing a constant threat, we are particularly active during the monsoon season. We conduct targeted flood relief activities in some of the worst affected areas of East Delhi, distributing food packets, water purification tablets, and other essential survival items. We also provide temporary shelter and sanitation facilities, and assist families in salvaging belongings and rebuilding their lives.
