Education

Education is our flagship project, through which we have positively impacted the lives of over 18,050 students across four states in India. We firmly believe that education is the most potent tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. The lack of quality educational facilities perpetuates social challenges, particularly for underprivileged families, taking away opportunities for income, growth, and sustainable development. Through our project, we aim to address these underlying issues within the education sector.

Shikshalaya, our free learning center, has been operational for four successful years. Beginning in 2014, we initially supported underprivileged children by funding their tuition fees and conducting informal classes in volunteers’ homes. By 2019, our first formal learning center was established in Najafgarh, New Delhi, India. Despite challenges, including the pandemic, we persisted in our mission to provide education to deserving children.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted by launching E-Shikshalaya. This initiative was crucial in ensuring continuity of education when everything became difficult. Many families lacked access to digital devices, with either no smartphones or only one device used by the working family member. To address this, we distributed tablet phones to families, enabling children to continue their education. Prior to this, students were missing all classes and had to visit their school every Saturday to catch up, which was detrimental to their education. E-Shikshalaya has ensured that learning never stops, providing a lifeline during the pandemic.
